NEW PROJECT ALERT

I have a new project... hair extensions!!! LOL! I know?! what the hey right?? well, I just wanted to try it coz it looks like it's fun!

shopped around online & good golly! I never thought it would be so expensive... it ranges from $90-$250 online for the 100% human hair with the clips & the whole enchilada... & you know me, I'm a cheapie! I'm not about to spend hella dollars on Jessica Simpson... so I decided to go to Sally's beauty supply store & found out that I can actually get some human hair & the supplies to make it on my own... so....

& after seeing the human hair weft thingie, I can understand why they price it too high, it looks like 'How It's Made' crew had a hard time getting all the strands of hair together & sewing it together... got this 92 inch wide (12" long) human hair track for about $19 + tax... + about another $20 for the supplies... that's still a good $30-$40 difference with buying the already made ones...
it's probably gonna take a couple of days to give you an update on this... I'm gonna have to find the time to squeeze this project in my busy Mommee/house maker life... nax!

SEPHORA HAUL PT.1

it really sucks when I get bored in the morning (while Devean & Deion are still sleeping) I tend to do some crazy shit... shit that I shouldn't be doing in any circumstance... broke or not broke, jobless or jobfull(LOL!)... I went shopping crazy again - makeup shopping crazy that is... I got some stuff from Sephora.com... I was supposed to only get one thing & one thing only - I was supposed to get only the Smashbox primer.. since I like the sample that they sent me from my last order, I decided to get it in full size... I found a set they are offering with other Smashbox items, it's called - Best of Sephora Beauty Kit... now who can say no to that?? the set includes a 0.5 oz O-Glow (which I've been wanting to get for the longest time as well), a 0.5 oz Photo Finish Foundation Primer (the only thing I needed to get), a 0.134 oz Soft Lights in Tint, a 0.079 oz Eye Shadow Trio in Headshot, a 0.06 oz Cream Eye Liner Duo in Caviar and Midnight Brown, and a Brow Tech Trio in Brunette and Taupe, with Brow Wax (& the rest, which I can make use of). The set is $140 value but is on sale for $47, now again, who can say no to that?? talk about 'kill two birds with one stone', or should I say 6 birds?

they have this "free shipping for every $50 purchase" thing all the time & darnit! I was $3 shy to getting that free s&h so I thought, 'why not get another cheap item so I can avail of the free s&h?!'... I am 100% aware that this is not a very smart idea, as shipping would probably only cost me $8 at the most for standard delivery versus another $17 item... of course, it was just another excuse to convince my self to get another item... so I decided to get a UDPP (Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion), after all the hype I've heard about this eyeshadow primer, I just have to try it... most makeup addicts say it's well worth the money spent for the quality of this primer... even though I'm already satisfied with a few of my e/s primers (I have Benefit F.Y...eye, L'Oreal De-Crease base & a sample of Too Faced Shadow Insurance), I just gotta try it to put my curious mind to rest...

so I thought it would stop there... Nope!! got some more stuff... I dunno what I was thinkin... I guess I was just confident that if I didn't like some of the stuff, I can always return them(Sephora also offers free returns) like the Beauty Blender...

read all the stuff about it at Sephora (
http://www.sephora.com/browse/brand_hierarchy.jhtml?brandId=5938&searchString=beauty%20blender) or watch some reviews at Youtube like this one

this haul gave the line 'one thing lead to another' a whole new meaning... LOL... why? coz I got me some more stuff.... I got me a NARS highlighting blush in Albatross & a Nars Bronzing Blush Duo in Orgasm & Laguna...

& finally, uncertain why, I ordered another Smashbox foundation primer this time it's the Color Adjust one... I got it in green which helps get rid of redness & cover up blemishes... one more thing I wanted to try...
I also got some stuff from E.L.F. (eyeslipsface.com)... I received a 50% off coupon from them so I thought I'd take advantage of that... they have good quality brushes for a buck each, well most of their products run for a dollar... I'll just post pictures as soon as I get them...

WHAT'S FOR DINNER?

that was what's for dinner last night -- PININYAHANG MANOK (Pineapple Chicken)... my version... hehe... I dunno why I never thought of going to YouTube for cooking recipe before but it was so much easier coz they give you directions firsthand plus viewing it from my iPhone was super convenient coz I can have it right there with me & pause it or rewind it whenever I have to... although there were a lot of versions & it was still confusing, I was able to make the revamped version of Pininyahang Manok... haha... I didn't have the coconut cream/milk, so to give that creamy consistency & to add that little sweet taste that I like, I added a tiny bit of condensed milk & let me tell you, it was da B-O-M-B, da bomb! I'll just let Davi tell you all about it... not to brag, but all I can hear was "mmmm... mmmm..." LOL...

I had to work with a whole chicken that Nanay left coz I haven't gotten the chance to get the ready-to-cook ones from the store yet... so I had to cut it in smaller pieces, it was my first time as you can see from the picture - it's all jacked up! LOL!... told you, Nanay did everything for us... but hey, I'm tryin & it's not too late right?!

and of course I had to make a big ol mess in Nanay's kitchen...

but this made it all easy to clean everything up...

Davi had let them out to the backyard so they can play & run around for a little bit while he plays the never-ending XBOX Call of Duty **ugh**.. I hate that game, I hate any game that takes his attention away from us, especially his kids... I am so gonna sell that stupid XBOX with all the games to Anwar for 50 bucks already... LOL... but anyways, went totally OT here... my boys came back inside with this cute little flower from Nanay's garden... I know! major 'aaaawwwww' right?! they are so sweet!
and they're getting big every minute... =(

here's Deion getting caught red handed while he tried to bust out a ninja move on Nanay's bougainvilleas

tonight's dinner on the other hand, is the Mickey Mouse chicken nuggets from Costco... no pictures for that... I'm pretty sure you can use your imagination with that

FOUNDATION TRIAL

I was bored out of my mind so I thought I'd experiment with the new liquid foundation I'm tryin out... I have always been either a tinted moisturizer or mineral (powder)foundation kinda girl but I heard so many good things about this one drugstore liquid foundation, how it could be a dupe for MAC Studio Fix Fluid, so I thought I'd try it & share my experience with it to you guys... so here is the LOTD (Look Of The Day)... nothing special...

PRODUCT REVIEW:

REVLON ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex

Revlon claims:

Revlon ColorStay
- Looks and feels fresh all day
- SoftFlex provides all-day comfort
- Oil-free shine control
- Natural, flawless look
- Transfer-resistant

In my opinion:

[ PROS ]
- Very affordable!
got mine at Long's Drugs at 50% off = $6.50 + tax
- Available for Combination/Oily Skin or Normal/Dry Skin
- Has SPF
the Combination/Oily has SPF6 while the Normal/Dry Skin has SPF15
- Really lasts all day long!
- Gives good coverage without feeling cakey or heavy
I thought the coverage was good but not super good... it did cover a lot of my blemishes but not all.. but I guess it would help if I use a concealer?!?
- Consistency is not too thick
- A little product goes a long way
- Unlike mineral (powder) makeups, it is not messy
- No funky smell
- Huge shade selection
I got Fresh Beige(Combination/Oily) & Buff(Normal/Dry)... Buff was way too light... Fresh Beige is what I'm wearing in the pictures which I think is still a bit lighter than my natural shade... I might try either Golden Beige or Medium Beige

[ CONS ]
- Doesn't come with a pump which makes it harder to dispense
- It dries very quickly
because of this, it makes it so much harder to blend, so the trick is to work on one area at a time & move fast!
- Hard to wash off
this makeup certainly does what it says, it stays on your face... it's super hard to wash it off, baby wipes usually does the trick for me, but nothing is good enough with this product not even soap and water... this makeup calls for hard brutal rubbing to get it off.. while the coverage it offers is really good, it also scares me that it might do more damage to my skin since it doesn't come off completely... so I would say it's not ideal to use this makeup everyday, maybe only on special occasions...
- It looks kinda dry
so I might have to use my Caudalie Beauty Elixir (or any aqua-spritz such as the MAC Fix Plus or Evian Mineral Water Spray) which would give you that dewey - glowing look

TV SHOWS I HEART TO WATCH

here's a list of all the shows I'm currently & tenaciously watching... you might not care but I still wanna make a list coz lists are cool!! LOL!

(in no particular order)

PRIMETIME: WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
When people see a situation that cries out for action, do they step in, back away or just walk on by? Suppose you saw a friend's spouse cheating -- would you tell her? What if you saw a young girl being cruelly taunted by other girls -- would you confront them?
Using hidden cameras, host John Quinones observes and comments on how ordinary people behave when they are confronted with a dilemma that requires them to either take action or mind their own business.
-Network: ABC

AMERICAN IDOL
This number 1 hit series empowers contestants and viewers to share their voice in deciding who will be America's next singing superstar.
-Network: FOX
ACE OF CAKES
Shaping cakes with drill saws and blowtorches, Chef Duff staffs his bakery with fellow rock musicians. He's not your typical baker, however, he's one of the most sought-after decorative cake makers in the country. Every week at Charm City Cakes in Baltimore, Duff and his team of artists try to meet the demands of creating up to 20 cakes a week, some of which take up to 29 hours to build! From a tilted Dr Seuss-like seven-tiered wedding cake to an almost perfect replica of Wrigley Field, Duff can built it.
-Network: FOOD NETWORK
INTERVENTION
Intervention is a powerful and gripping television series in which people confront their darkest demons and seek a route to redemption. This television series profiles people whose dependence on drugs and alcohol or other compulsive behavior has brought them to a point of personal crisis and estranged them from their friends and loved ones. Each Intervention episode ends with a surprise intervention that is staged by the family and friends of the alcohol or drug addict, and which is conducted by one of three Intervention specialists. Intervention raises awareness about the alternatives and treatment options available to those who suffer from an alcohol or drug addiction, and gives hope to families who have nowhere left to turn.
-Network: A&E

WHAT NOT TO WEAR
The reality show premise is simple: friends and family members nominate a candidate that they consider poorly dressed and ask the show to make over the "fashion victim." Fashion Police Stacy London and her partner, Clinton Kelly (or Wayne Scott Lukas in the first season) ambush the candidate and make them an offer-- they are given a $5000.00 budget for a new wardrobe, which they must purchase in New York City boutiques over the course of two days, but only on the condition that they allow Stacy & Clinton/ Wayne to critique, and in most cases throw out, their existing wardrobe. For grooming tips, hairdresser Nick Arrojio and makeup artist Carmindy help refine the candidate's look.
-Network: TLC
DARK DAYS IN MONKEY CITY
Deep within the jungles on the magical isle of Sri Lanka is the deserted city of Polonnaruwa... also known as "Monkey City." There, amidst the crumbling temples, large populations of toque macaques have turned the ruins of this once great and powerful civilization into a savage battlefield. Once ruled by Buddhist and Hindu kings, the ancient temple city is now home to myriad monkey gangs that fight for supremacy. The weak are banished from Monkey City and sent into the Badlands, or worse, the human hell that lies across the river, where human civilization continues to expand into the wild.
The mightiest tribe in Monkey City is the Temple Troop, led by Lear and his queen Gemini. They are the staunch defenders of the best territory in the area — Fig Tree Vale. Their ancient foes are the neighboring Black Claws, who will stop at nothing to conquer that territory so they no longer have to feed on a diet of human rubbish. A bloody conflict is brewing in Monkey City; now, more than ever, the ever-increasing tension between these two groups is teetering on the precipice of all-out war. Dark Days in Monkey City blends graphic novel-style animation with live action to present an epic tale of love, treachery, betrayal and triumph.
-Network: Animal Planet

1,000 WAYS TO DIE
1,000 Ways to Die combines the science of living and the randomness of death with a dash of Darwinism. What actually happens when a rattlesnake's venom enters the bloodstream? How do Nitrogen bubbles affect the body after long exposure under water then immediately to 2 miles up into the sky? These questions will be answered in glorious CGI effects. Forensic experts, pathologists, toxicologists, herpetologists, and other experts offer eloquent explanations of mortality.
-Network: Spike
KEEPING UP WITH THE KARDASHIANS
A tempest of siblings, business and fame engulf Olympic decathlete Bruce Jenner and paparazzi fave Kim Kardashian as their huge Hollywood families collide.
-Network: E!
LIE TO ME
The average person tells three lies in ten minutes of conversation.
DR. CAL LIGHTMAN (Tim Roth, "The Incredible Hulk," "Reservoir Dogs") can detect the truth by analyzing a person's face, body, voice and speech. When someone shrugs his shoulder, rotates his hand or raises his lower lip, Lightman knows he's lying. By analyzing facial expressions, he can read feelings - from hidden resentment to sexual attraction to jealousy. But as Lightman well knows, his scientific ability is both a blessing and a curse in his personal life, where family and friends deceive each other as readily as criminals and strangers do. Lightman is the world's leading deception expert, a scientist who studies facial expressions and involuntary body language to discover not only if you are lying but why.
A compelling new drama series inspired by the scientific discoveries of Dr. Paul Ekman, a real-life specialist who can read clues embedded in the human face, body and voice to expose both the truth and lies in criminal investigations.
-Network: FOX
HOUSE
An innovative take on the medical drama, solves mysteries where the villain is a medical malady and the hero is an irreverent, controversial doctor who trusts no one, least of all his patients.
DR. GREGORY HOUSE (Hugh Laurie), devoid of bedside manner and dealing with his own constant physical pain, uses a cane that seems to punctuate his acerbic, brutally honest demeanor. His behavior often borders on antisocial, but House is a brilliant diagnostician whose unconventional thinking and flawless instincts afford him a great deal of respect. An infectious disease specialist, he thrives on the challenge of solving medical puzzles in order to save lives.

I'm about to take a shower right now & go out to do some grocery shopping & pay for store credit card bills, but before I do, I just had to log in real quick & share this to you all...

my Coastal Scents order just came in... woot woot!! it got here hella fast, I ordered it on the 17th & it came today, the 20th... I chose to have it shipped via USPS first class mail which was the cheapest so you figure it wouldn't get here til maybe after 7 business days if not longer... I am so happy!! although it's only a mini haul, I'm in makeup heaven right now... haha.. I'm such a loser I know!!

(from right to left)
Pink Kabuki Brush / Item Total: $4.99
Pink Duo Fiber Powder Stippler / Item Total: $7.95

ADOBO

menu for dinner: PORK ADOBO & STRAWBERRY MILK SHAKE

I am being forced to be domesticated since my mom & the rest of the family left for the P.I. I've been super obliged to cook, clean up, do the blah blah blah house chores that my wonderful mom has been taking charge of since we were born... OMG! while it's super hard & exhausting, it's also very enjoying knowing that at the end of the day you did good... it's an accomplishment really! no wonder my mom never gets tired of doin everything for us....

so, I cooked adobo tonight for dinner... I tried making Tita Luvy's(my friend Michelle's mom) adobo, but it was nowhere near her version... her's was bomb!! but mine was ok being that it was my first time trying it... Davi liked it, he said it was good... I thought the sour taste of the vinegar was too strong... but D said if you balance the amount of the ulam with the amount of rice, it's good... ok! if he say so... I also made a strawberry milk shake that ate Jen always makes... I really don't have their(Tita Luvy's & ate Jen) exact recipes but thanks to the very informative world wide web, I managed... it was so funny what Devean said when I had him taste the shake, "wow Mommy, you finally made it good!"... LOL... that boy is so hilarious!! like I've made it before!?! well, anyhow that's the kind of reward I like getting when I worked my butt off on something I'm a novice at...

anyways so, I'm finally catchin up on blogging again... it's been really busy lately... with my family getting ready to go back to the P.I. & me getting sick & everything... but hopefully, I can maintain a regular posting here from now on...

we dropped off Tatay, Nanay, Kuya, ate Jen & Aidann to LAX last Tuesday... we left around 8 in the morning then got there by 11 AM... we got there hella quick, it took us like 2 & a half hours only... eventhough I slept thru the whole drive I figured there was not much traffic unless my brother & Davi were just haulin ass... we had to rent a pickup truck coz we weren't going to fit in one ride... so my brother drove the rental & Davi drove our denali... we just left the rental there in LAX... we were ready to go home round 12:30 coz they didn't really have time to chill even for a bit before they had to go in... I was excited coz I thought we can go to the Camarillo outlets, stop by the Cosmetics Company Store & have a lot of time to browse thru their products... but to my disappointment, they have very little selection for MAC... I dunno for the other stuff but I only checked out the MAC & the Bobbi Brown brands (they also have Clinique, Estee Lauder & etc.)... they don't have any MAC brushes, no eyeshadows, not that many lipstick & lip glosses to choose from... & to add to my disappointment, the sales associates were not that helpful, they weren't rude or anything but they were not accommodating at all... I've read a lot of forums about the CCO's & a lot of people have talked about their bad experiences with the CCO staff, but I never thought it would be in all of the CCO stores!!?! I never thought everyone would have the same impression... I guess it's true! how sad is that?! CCOs can't hire nice people??

I was disappointed but a bit relieved, I didn't spend any money... whew!!! but I'm not givin up on the CCOs... I still have a chance at the Gilroy outlets... there's also 1 in Napa & in Vacaville... but that might be too far & might not be worth the drive if they won't have that many items... & if the staff are gonna be snotty in Gilroy when I go, then forget the CCOs altogether... I'd rather get the regular priced MAC stuff than deal with all the b.s. ... anyway, I found out that MAC cosmetics.com does not charge s&h if you purchase $60 or more... so I might just get my stuff there...

I was gonna ask D to take me to the MAC pro store in Santa Barbara again but I thought I'd be considerate enough knowing that all of us were tired especially him who drove both ways.. so like I said in my previous post, it's not the end of the world if I don't get the MAC stuff on my wishlist... there's still next time...

GOODBYE KITTY

guess what I did today??

.........................

.........................

.........................

YOU: "ano pah! eh di makeup na naman!!"

omigosh!! y'all know me so well now... LOL!! yes... I did some more drugstore makeup shopping... don't worry, it's just another mini haul!! it was my Nanay's fault, she wanted to stop by Big Lots coz she liked one of the E.L.F. lip glosses I got from there a while back so I took her there & I ended up getting some stuff for my self... cheap stuff!! I don't wanna bore you with my makeup blahblahs but like I said from a previous post, this is my blog, so I guess I can do anything I want... HAH!! i like makeup & you're gonna be seeing more about makeup in the future... this blog is all about me & my crap, hence the blog title, "a daily dose of kaartehan".. so if you don't dig this shit then I guess it wouldn't be a problem coz you won't be back here checkin out my blog again right?! LOL!.. just messin...

anyways, the stuff I got are super knock offs... I asked the Pinay cashier why they are so cheap, she said they're like closed out items from pharmacies that went out of business (that was totally redundant wasn't it?!?)... she assured me that they're not old/expired products.. so anyways, I got these...

I did some swatches of the eyeliners (both Maybelline & Diamond Cosmetics) & they're pretty good quality... the Revlon 3D Extreme Mascara was also nice, I mean of course it was no Givenchy or Dior or Lancome but it was good... I would say the filling power is a 3 on a scale of 5... & for the price of it ($3.00), it is really not bad! the brushes, I just got them coz they're only for a buck...

we also went to the mall & omigosh! there's a Urban Decay booth/stall (whatever!) in the Macy's department store now... I'm not sure how long it's been there, I guess I haven't been to the mall forever, but I'm super excited about this! I totally checked out their stuff... I've always loved their eyeshadow palettes.. aside from the very cool packaging, the eyeshadows are very nice & pigmented... I've never really noticed their single shadows til now though, it looks like it would fit the MAC pro palette once depotted... I asked the sales lady but she said she's not sure, you figure she would know... she was hella nice to tell me I can take it over to the MAC counter to compare... maybe next time coz I didn't want Nanay & Tatay to wait... they have the UDPP (Urban Decay Primer Potion for $17)... yay!! that means I don't have to order it from Sephora.com or go all the way to San Luis to get one anymore... this is gonna be hella convenient.. oh shit! I'm gonna be broke!!

I was gonna get me a HK Lipglass in either She Loves Candy or Sweet Strawberry or Nice to be Nice or whichever one fits me & HK TLC(tinted lip conditioner) in Popster but they are SOLD OUT!!! I dunno if I should feel sad or relieved.. I mean I don't really have to get these stuff but I want to... ***sigh*** the MAC girl said they will not get anymore of these... I heard that it's getting harder to get the stuff coz most of the MAC places are selling out of the HK collection really fast... I tried ordering them from the MAC website & they still have most of them in stock... but I kinda wanna try them first hand before I buy them... I wonder if MAC pro stores still have them...
the Cremesheen Glass I've been wanting to get (in Boy Bait - see my wish list on the side bar) was also sold out... my only hope for this is the pro store or the CCO (Cosmetics Company Outlet) in Camarillo... arrghh!! I can't even go to one til mid month when we drive my brother to LAX... I am getting so anxious!! what if they're all gone by the time I get to a pro store or CCO??? I guess it's not end of the world if I don't get it, but it would suck ass!
on our way back, I stopped by the MAC counter, I just had to, I couldn't resist the urge.. remember that pulling force thing I was talkin about?! yeah, it was like that, only stronger... I've really been wanting to check out the new MAC HK(Hello Kitty) collection... but same reason why I've been tryin to stay away from the mall -- is because I know I'll be very very broke after I get my hands on those darn hello kitty things... even though I was only interested in getting a few items I know I'll be getting some other stuff from the other collections...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
it was also Papa Nano's death anniversary today so we went to the Guadalupe Cemetery to offer some prayers for him... I miss him lots!!

BOGO GRATIS

most drug stores had a buy 1 get 1 free sale last week... so what did I do?? gora pagbayola ng kung anik anik... eh pano?! adik! LOL!!
so I went to CVS/Pharmacy & got me the L'Oreal H.I.P./High Intensity Pigment Color Truth Cream Eyeliner in BLACK; L'Oreal H.I.P. Cream Shadow Paint in LOFTY - BOGO free, so I paid $11.99 for both + tax; 2 tubs of Neutrogena Extra Gentle Eye Makeup Remover Pads - I also got these for the price of 1 which is about $9.99 + tax... then stopped by Longs Drugs & got me my favorite eye liner for life, 2 Almay Eyeliner Crayon Contour in BLACK these are also BOGO free & got me a small tub of Almay Eye Makeup Remover Pads(15pads) - $1.99 just to try em out...

I also picked up a few brushes from Target (Sonia Kashuk angle blush brush & blending brush); K-Mart (Image Essentials angle blush brush + free pencil brush); CVS/Pharmacy (Essence of Beauty double-sided smoky(crease)/wide eyeshadow brush + free eyeliner angle brush & crease brush + eyeshadow brush) ....

like I need any more!! take a look at my brush collection....
I didn't get to fix the beads on this long glass container... coz I just bought it, I had a shorter one but I had to get something bigger that can accommodate my growing brush collection...
it bugs the heck out of me, so I'll probably fix it later then post another picture... yes, I'm anal like that!!

this one below includes a few paint brushes, I did my research & discovered that some paint brush brands are comparable to some MAC brushes... & they are!! I used a sauce/dressing serving container...
I've collected these brushes over a period of 1 year, if not less.. I started with the AVON & Mark ones coz I used to work with all girls at my last job & there's a lot of AVON reps there so you know how that works... then turned to Sephora, then online websites, then MAC & drugstores of course! I dunno what it is, but it's so friggin addicting!! for some reason, I always have to stop by the makeup section of every store to check out their brushes, it's like there's a strong force always pulling me in & I always end up buying some (at least a couple at a time)... it's so much fun even just lookin at them... LOL! I know I'm the biggest dork! but hey, it's not just for show, I really do use all of them... they are all quality brushes & they really come in handy especially when you're just messin around practicing with eyeshadows, it's nice to have a lot to use when you change up different eyeshadow colors... the only down side to having a lot of brushes is washing them, which has to be done at least 2-3 times a month... it was fun at first but it takes a lot of time to do... so I figured out an easier way to do it... I spot clean each time I use, then when it's due for some deep cleaning, I wash them in batches, not all at once... in fact I just did a batch last night.. I have to do some more tonight... yay!!

I'll be doing a review on some of the products I mentioned on this blog later on, so watch out for that!
