MAY FAVORITES

let me start my comeback with the flava of the month for the month of May....

for the FEZ

Rimmel Fix & Perfect foundation primer 001
a primer is used to make your skin smooth, it minimizes your pores, it's supposed to even out your complexion & prolongs the wear of your foundation.... I can definitely vouch for all these! I've been using this primer since the beginning of May only coz my MUFE primer became a permanent resident of one of my caboodles... & I can't believe I abandoned it before... this primer is awesome! it really makes my pores look like they're not there, therefore makes my skin looks smooth & ready for the foundation....

L'Oreal True Match super-blendable makeup W4
I have been using this foundation ever since I got it in April (see haul post HERE) & I love it!!! it matches my skin tone really well & I love how natural it looks! it doesn't cake even with the warm weather... it stays on pretty good too, I'm not too sure how long though, like I said it matches my color really well that I couldn't really tell when it rubs off....

MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural Medium
you all should already know how much I love this powder... it's my forever HG powder! I wear it most of the time (most of the time only with concealer underneath & sometimes with liquid foundation).... this MSF usually works good with anything but for some reason I think this works really really really good with the True Match foundation... they are like partners in crime.... they're like peanut butter & jelly... Bonnie & Clyde... sushi & soy sauce... spam & eggs... Davi & Black Ops... rice & vinegar... LOL... ok the last 3 were weird coz they were contributed by the manfriend.... hahahaha.... but you catch my drift right?! I think these 2 were made for each other... nuff said!

for the CHEEX

NYC Smooth Skin bronzing face powder 720A Sunny
loooooovin this bronzer!! I love how it's very soft & subtle... the only thing I'm not very fond of is that it leaves a harsh line, you have to blend it really good.... but other than that I love it for everyday use....

Make Up For Ever blush powder Orange Coral Matte 5
I've been so into orange lips for months & months now & this blush color from MUFE seem to be my go-to... it's the perfect peachy color for my complexion... a little bit goes a long way with this product.... I love that you can always build up the color if you want a brighter orange....

MAC bronzing powder Refined Golden
I got this in April but I started using it only mid-May... you only need an itty-bitty amount of this product, just a very light brush on the cheeks to give you a little bit of that bronzey[glitter] effect... this is something that you don't wanna overdo, otherwise it will look, well overdone (duhhrrrr!!)... a fan powder brush is perfect for this, or anything that would allow lightly sweeping of the product much like the one from Laura Mercier on the picture below....

tools

Coastal Scents' Flat Bronzer brush
due to laziness, my makeup brushes, which have been used at a makeup gig, are still all unwashed & I wouldn't usually embarrass my self like that but I can't keep this unmentioned because I just found me an all-around brush!!! believe it or not, this is the only brush I use for my whole face.... it's perfect for all over powder... I use it to contour my cheeks by turning it in an angle... I also use it to dab lightly on the MAC bronzing powder & apply it with a very light hand... & finally I use it to apply my blush... I just make sure that I wipe it on a clean towel in between application of different products...

I usually use my fingers to apply my liquid foundation so I wouldn't normally use this brush [or any brush for that matter] but just for the purpose of proving a point (that this is indeed an or should I say THEE all-around brush) I tried it with my liquid makeup & it works too!!! CS should change its name to multi-purpose brush....

for them PEEPERS

Milani Liquif'Eye metallic eye liner pencil 01 Black
this to me is the master of all black eyeliners!! it glides on super smoothly & let me tell you, it won't smudge or budge for shit!! it stays on all day.... the only thing with this eyeliner is that you can't use it if you are planning on a smudged, smoky eyeliner look.... other than that, it is love!

Maybelline NY the Falsies Volum' Express mascara Very Black
if you want volume on your lashes, this is the way to go.... need I say more???

Wet n Wild ultimate brow kit 963 Ash Brown
& of course, the ever so awesome eyebrow kit!! can you tell how much I use this product with how dirty the gel(the white on top) is?! haha... excuse the nastyness, but yes, I cannot live without this product, may not be part of my everyday routine but when I do get dolled up, this is the one I pick up all the time!

for the POUTY

Wet n Wild megalast lip color Pink Suga'
just a pretty nude lip color... with enough amount of moisturizer underneath it, it's a great lipstick, otherwise it's too drying.. but I still love it!

my everyday makeup usually consists only of moisturizer(not shown), sunblock(not shown), eyeliner, mascara & lip balm... I don't feel like getting too dolled up just to get super sticky after an oral surgery....

but yeah, these are my go-to products for the month of May....

PALETTES FROM EBAY

since I could not find a great excuse why this purchase, I'll just go straight to it....

here are the palettes I bought from eBay just recently....

Pro 88 Matte Color Eyeshadow Palette

this is my Pro 88 Ultra Shimmer Eyeshadow Palette, which I've had since I started getting addicted to makeup, before I even started blogging.... so I guess I've had this for about two years now?? yikes!! I wonder when this thing expires?!?!
this was purchased from Coastal Scents by the way....

comparing the two different palettes:
it's funny how I got the Shimmer palette in a matte casing & the Matte palette in a glossy casing.... it's all backwards.... talk about getting me confused on picking up which palette...

swatched a few colors....

Pro 6 Color Contour & Blush Palette
swatches

I got these two palettes from eBay...
Pro 6 Color Contour & Blush Palette ~ $15.99 free shipping
Pro 88 Matte Color Eyeshadow Palette ~ $1 + $8.95 s&h = $9.95

at Coastal Scents....
Ultra Shimmer 88 E/S Palette ~ $19.95 + s&h
88 Piece Makeup Palette $18.95 + s&h
Contour & Blush Palette $18.95 + s&h

prices are all the same at the Sedona Lace website except for the Contour & Blush Palette which is priced at $17.95 + s&h

so I saved a whole grip! just gotta love eBay for great deals as such!!

Coastal Scents Stippling Brushes

I've been lovin these brushes for foundation application because I feel like they work really well with the MUFE HD foundation that I've been using lately... for some reason the first time I tried these brushes with different foundations, Revlon ColorStay & MAC Studio Fix Fluid to be specific, it just didn't work out that well... I'm thinking these brushes don't really work with liquid foundations that has thicker consistency... it left streaks & dots on my face.... but I did give it another shot & I find it really easy to use with the MUFE HD... it provides even application... gives you that flawless finish... it blends the foundation on your skin really good... they uber soft... I just love it!!! these are only dupes for the MAC 187 brush but I must say, they are really really great dupes... you can probably get 5 of these for the price of 1 MAC 187 brush.. they are really affordable ($7.95+tax each versus $42+tax for the MAC)... however, there is one thing I didn't like about these brushes... I don't like the fact that they shed, majority of the time, it would leave a strand of hair on my face which could get really annoying at times... but other than that, these brushes would definitely be faves of every month from now on... =)

FOUNDATION TRIAL

I was bored out of my mind so I thought I'd experiment with the new liquid foundation I'm tryin out... I have always been either a tinted moisturizer or mineral (powder)foundation kinda girl but I heard so many good things about this one drugstore liquid foundation, how it could be a dupe for MAC Studio Fix Fluid, so I thought I'd try it & share my experience with it to you guys... so here is the LOTD (Look Of The Day)... nothing special...

PRODUCT REVIEW:

REVLON ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex

Revlon claims:

Revlon ColorStay
- Looks and feels fresh all day
- SoftFlex provides all-day comfort
- Oil-free shine control
- Natural, flawless look
- Transfer-resistant

In my opinion:

[ PROS ]
- Very affordable!
got mine at Long's Drugs at 50% off = $6.50 + tax
- Available for Combination/Oily Skin or Normal/Dry Skin
- Has SPF
the Combination/Oily has SPF6 while the Normal/Dry Skin has SPF15
- Really lasts all day long!
- Gives good coverage without feeling cakey or heavy
I thought the coverage was good but not super good... it did cover a lot of my blemishes but not all.. but I guess it would help if I use a concealer?!?
- Consistency is not too thick
- A little product goes a long way
- Unlike mineral (powder) makeups, it is not messy
- No funky smell
- Huge shade selection
I got Fresh Beige(Combination/Oily) & Buff(Normal/Dry)... Buff was way too light... Fresh Beige is what I'm wearing in the pictures which I think is still a bit lighter than my natural shade... I might try either Golden Beige or Medium Beige

[ CONS ]
- Doesn't come with a pump which makes it harder to dispense
- It dries very quickly
because of this, it makes it so much harder to blend, so the trick is to work on one area at a time & move fast!
- Hard to wash off
this makeup certainly does what it says, it stays on your face... it's super hard to wash it off, baby wipes usually does the trick for me, but nothing is good enough with this product not even soap and water... this makeup calls for hard brutal rubbing to get it off.. while the coverage it offers is really good, it also scares me that it might do more damage to my skin since it doesn't come off completely... so I would say it's not ideal to use this makeup everyday, maybe only on special occasions...
- It looks kinda dry
so I might have to use my Caudalie Beauty Elixir (or any aqua-spritz such as the MAC Fix Plus or Evian Mineral Water Spray) which would give you that dewey - glowing look

PENGK KABUKI

I'm about to take a shower right now & go out to do some grocery shopping & pay for store credit card bills, but before I do, I just had to log in real quick & share this to you all...

my Coastal Scents order just came in... woot woot!! it got here hella fast, I ordered it on the 17th & it came today, the 20th... I chose to have it shipped via USPS first class mail which was the cheapest so you figure it wouldn't get here til maybe after 7 business days if not longer... I am so happy!! although it's only a mini haul, I'm in makeup heaven right now... haha.. I'm such a loser I know!!

(from right to left)
Pink Kabuki Brush / Item Total: $4.99
Pink Duo Fiber Powder Stippler / Item Total: $7.95
Pink Blending Fluff Brush / Item Total: $1.99
Sifter Jars 10 gram with Sifter Seal / Item Total: $0.59
Silica Powder Spheres: 1 oz - 28.35 gram / Item Total: $4.00
+ a free sample of eyeshadow in Vintage
I'm mostly excited about the pink Kabuki brush & the Silica Powder... I heard that the Silica Powder is exactly what the Make Up For Ever HD powder was made out of - 100% pure silica powder - I will use it as a finish after my liquid foundation... & the pink Kabuki brush is just awefully cute!! heehee
ok... gotta run now! I have a lotta things to do... see y'all later!
