CHRISTMAS NAIL COLOR: STILETTO RED

I am loooovin the Rimmel nail polish!!!! I mean look at how vibrant that red is!! but it's not just that, I love the finish of this nail polish, it goes on really really smooth... as in 100% streak free... I just love it!!

PRODUCTS USED:
Nail Magic Nail Hardener (base coat)
Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro - STILETTO RED (3 coats)
Revlon No Chip top coat
Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure - Starry, Starry Flight (2 coats on tips)
Seche Vite Dry Fast top coat

I probably should have left it alone but just to give it a little spark for the spirit of the Holidays, I tried doin a little nail art... I mean I reeeaaally tried!! haha... you'll see what I'm talkin about...

here is a picture of one thin coat of SH Starry, Starry Flight on the tips...

then after 3 coats of the glitter polish...

I tried to make it look like snow icicle....

but you're the judge whether I'm successful with this attempt or not...

personally, I thought I did alright at my first attempt to nail art... =)

NOTD: CELEB CITY

out of all the nail polishes I got on my last haul, my favorite is this one.....

PRODUCTS USED:
Seche Base Ridge Filling Base Coat
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - CELEB CITY (2 coats)
Out The Door Top Coat

I almost forgot I had this ring... this nail polish reminded me of it... I think I got this on clearance at Kohls for a buck... super cute!!!
this is sooooo gorgeous on!! for some reason it gives the skin around the nails & the cuticles a pinkish/reddish color.... & somehow it looks pretty like that....

I got way too many pictures coz I feel like the camera is not capturing how this nail polish actually looks like... so I apologize to some of you who doesn't like it when there's more than a couple of pictures.....

GLITTERS & SPARKLES GALORE

I so wanna get minxed!! & the best time to get it I think is during the holidays when we have every excuse to be sparkly & glittery & shiny & shimmery.....

I'm pretty sure you've heard of Minx, they've been around for several months now.... but if you haven't, Minx is a flexible polymer that is heated & applied to nails (only by a professional)... this is the hottest in nail trend, that is a great alternative to nail polish & fake tips... Minx offers beautiful metallic colors, as well as fun colorful designs....

although I don't have access to them in my area, I am obsessed with them (is that even possible?!?!?)... I mean just look at these images!!
AH-MAZINGGGGG!!!!

so because there aren't any Minx salons where I live, I had to look for an alternative.... since I was only after the look of the shiny nails & not after the eco, green, saving the earth trip, the closest alternative I can think of are metallic nail polishes.... so I went drugstore hopping, on a mission to find the perfect minx dupe....

here is the result of my mission.....

okay, okay! so I tried on different nail polishes at the store!!! don't judge!! I told my self I was gonna do only one, then I got carried away & next thing you know, both hands have different colored metallic nail polishes!! LOL... I know this is a big no no, but I sure had fun!!

notice how most of them are jacked up?! it's coz I was too scared to get caught, for some reason I felt like I was gonna get kicked out of the store for tryin on the nail polishes... hahaha.. but despite that, I still managed to stick around for 2nd coats!! LOL.... I am terrible, I know!

that's drugstore nail polish application for you!!!! LOL

anyhoo... which color/s do you think are possible Minx dupe/s??

in my opinion, none of them came close to the real Minx.... but hey I tried!! nonetheless, I still picked up some nail polishes that I ended up liking....

Sally Hansens
I wanted to grab only the Gilty Pleasure, but it was BOGO 50% off free at Rite-Aid the time I got these so I had to pick up another one, I decided on Starry Starry Flight for no reason at all... LOL.. I just have no clue what to get at the time...

then I went to CVS & it was the same dilemma with the

Rimmel Londons
they were BOGO 50% off as well... I wanted to get Steel Grey but I was concentrating on the Christmas colors too much that I picked up Stilleto Red & Marine Blue instead....

then the

Revlons
also BOGO 50% off.... I only wanted to get Silver Screen but had to get another one so I got Peach Petal because nothin else caught my eye....

& last stop was Walgreens

no sale on the nail polishes that I wanted to get so I just picked up

Sally Hansen
Celeb City... so far, this is my favorite out of all the ones I swatched.... I'm most excited to wear this one!

so are you ready to see me have fake Minx nails???

NOTW: BLUE SUEDE

it's my friend Chuck's birthday tomorrow & we are headed to Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia.... I realized that I always wear a dark colored nail polish whenever there's an event or whenever we go somewhere special... so to change it up a little, I decided to wear a different shade, still dark, but much lighter than what I used to always wear....

so for the NOTW,
ORLY
BLUE SUEDE

PRODUCTS USED:
Sally Hansen Base & Top Coat (base)
Orly Nail Lacquer - Blue Suede
Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat

it was actually a nice suede finish (semi-matte) but I wasn't feelin the matte-ish finish right now, so I applied a top coat over 2 coats of the nail polish.... what I forgot to do though was take a picture of the Blue Suede without the top coat....

taken hours later, after I did some stuff.... you can actually see marks & little scratches on them...

I'm not too crazy about this n/p... I'm thinkin about takin it back to the store... is that even allowed?? LOL

pictures from the Six Flags trip to follow if I ever get to copy the pictures...I am so not bringin a camera... I hate extra baggages at crowded places like theme parks... my friends bring their cameras anyway, so I'll just ask for copies... =)

NOTW X2: MORBID + HIDDEN TREASURE / MATTE ABOUT YOU

I had my very first manicure client today.... (well with the exception of my Mom) - Kaytlee, a pretty little girl that's really close to the family... her Mom often asks my Mom to watch her while she's at work... she's the same age as Devean (my eldest) so they get along really well...
(I had to blur out her face as I did not ask her Mom for permission yet...)

I was actually in the room doin my nails when she walked in & saw me.. so of course, being a girly girl that she is, she excitedly invited herself to watch what I was doin.... I asked her if she wanted me to paint her nails, she nodded with a big grin on her face... I was so excited!!! I even had her pick the color... when she saw all my nail polishes.. she was like "whoah!! why do you have so much? my Mommy have like 7!!" in amazement!!! hahaha... she's too cute! it was so much fun picking colors with her... she put all the pinks together, all the blues, the greens..... & then asked me "why do you have to have a lot of pinks, & a lot of blues, & a lot of greens??".. I just said "you'll understand why when you get older!" not knowing how to explain it to her.... LOL

anyhoo, she picked Wet n Wild's MORBID.... which was a total shock coz that is the color I already picked for my self!!! like honest to G!!! it was soooo crazy!! I swear we were havin a girl bonding moment... & this is why I want to have a daughter soooo bad! =(

(that's her in the back while waiting patiently for her nails to dry)

with mine, I planned to do matte this time.. so to change her's up, I decided to add the Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure on top.... then I used Nailene Acrylic Strong topcoat...

& for my NOTW:

MATTED Wet N Wild MORBID

Products Used:
Seche Base Ridge Filling base coat
Wet n Wild nail color Morbid
Essie Matte About You

applied one coat of Seche Base

applied first coat of Morbid

applied second coat of Morbid

applied first coat of Matte About You

after second coat of Matte About you & after a little clean up

the final result

I like how it's matte but didn't lose the glittery look of the nail polish.... maybe next time I'll try a polish with a solid color....
