DIA DE LOS MUERTOS HALLOWEEN LOOK INSPIRATION

a few months back, when one of my clients asked me to do a Dia De Los Muertos inspired makeup on her for Halloween, I got really curious! I've seen a lot of these artistic painted faces of what seems to be a skull incorporated with a lot of flowers & little swirly things... but I never really took a time to look it up... what is this Dia De Los Muertos thing really all about??

when I googled it, I got pretty interested & more amazed by the whole thing.... then I got the itch to do one on my self....

before I show you the result of my attempt at the Dia De Los Muertos look, here are a few of my favorite images of the said art... mostly are by Sylvia Ji.. I used some of these pictures as inspiration for this look....

Sylvia Ji is an artist whose work has a heavy influence from Mexico, especially from sugar skull art... see her bio here

can you believe I was gone for more than a month??? I ain't gon lie, this happened a buncha times in the past, & it's something I'm not too proud of... but I guess what's important is that I keep coming back.....


let me start off by saying SENTIMOS!! lo siento mucho!! (I'm getting a kick out of this whole Spanish thing... I dunno why!?! haha)... I'm so sorry for being gone for so long, I didn't mean to abandon my blog & my readers.. although, I did think about stopping blogging altogether.... but then I realized even after a while, I was still getting new followers & still getting messages & comments & whatnot from my readers.... & so I thought, some people still appreciate my shtuff, & I love you all for that!!! & to let you all know that I appreciate you all for being there, I decided to come back hoping to deliver some good shit to you all!!


to some people, it might be lack of material, but that's definitely not the case for me, I have LOTS of pending things to blog about... the problem is I have way too much, that it's kinda hard to decide where to start... especially if I wanted to post a subject that's only appropriate for a certain day, & if I missed that day just because I was too lazy or too busy to blog then that certain post is as good as 'spoiled food'...


I guess, I kinda owe you all an explanation as to why I was gone for that long....


the main reason was because I started working again in April, as a dental assistant at a dental office(duh!?! haha)... so from being unemployed for more than 2 years, you can probably imagine how big of an adjustment I have to make... I no longer have the extra time to blog & do makeup for a FOTD, heck I can't even find time to paint my nails so much cut it!! hahaha...


I now give that little extra time I have to my kids... who, by the way, had their birthdays in April... I now have a 7 & a 5 year old boys....


another update is that I have been getting a lot of emails from companies who wanna offer samples for review & their services to my readers.... which is cool right?! I just haven't gotten around to blogging about them but I will, soon! does this also mean 'giveaway'??? yes!! a giveaway is in the works for you all, kind of like a thank you for sticking with me through the drought... so watch out for that....


another thing is that, [besides scrubs] I've been hauling all kinds of stuff while I was away from blogging... so you might see a lot of haul posts...  especially MAC items, I decided to do this 'buy-one-MAC-item-a-week' thing, where I buy one MAC product every week (I decided this is better instead of splurging all at once... I said better but definitely not easier... you'll see why in my upcoming posts about this MAC project)


& lastly, I will be changing my blog URL soon... I wanted to let you know because I dunno whether my follower's access to my blog will be affected by this or not... will you still be able to find me??? do you get directed to the new URL address if you click on my link?? if you know how this works, can you please advise on what I need to do?? do I just change the URL & that's it??? please help!! I am clueless!!


anyhoo, that's about enough bore for now... just wanted to warn you, you will be seeing old shit that was not posted, I hope you guys won't mind overdue crap... "better late than never" is now my new life philosophy... LOL

WHAT ARE YOU GIVIN UP??

in observance of the lent season, I thought I'd do a post on the things I'm givin up...

last year, I gave up rice & I must say very proudly that it was a success... being Filipino, whose staple food is rice, IT'S VERY HARD not to eat rice... but I did it!! no rice for 40 days!! I believe I lost a few lbs as a result, although that was not my intention... my intention was to give up something that I thought I couldn't live without... the weight loss was just an added bonus.... but this year, I mean business... double purpose baby!!! sacrifice for lent & to lose a few pounds.... LOL

so I am givin up....

RICE

FAST FOOD

I'm not too fond of burgers, I don't really like them but I like to eat french fries every now & then, especially In n Out's & McD's.... & Wendy's chicken nuggets are something that I crave for a lot.... but other than that I don't think it would be that hard to give up on fast food....

wait!!! is pizza considered fast food?? oh hell, now that's something that's kind of hard to avoid since my boys love pizza... uh-oh!!

SODA

this, my friends, is what's gonna kill me... I loooooove drinkin soda, Pepsi/Diet Pepsi in particular.... but I think I only drink it when it's there, when it's not, I don't crave for it or anything like that.... "out of sight, out of mind"... so the solution is to not buy them... but the problem is my Dad & the beaufee drinks soda so we include that in the grocery list often times... so I'm screwed!! but that's why it's a test....

I know I can do it!! I already did it before.... but it's gonna be hard!!

so here we go, 40 days & 40 nights.... starting today (Ash Wednesday).... wish me luck!! I'm gonna need it....

I saw them the other night at The Monique Show & oh man I soooo wanna get my hair done like hers....

OH-EM-GEE!!!! a whole month of no blog entries?!!??! now that is just sad!! why I called this blog "A DAILY Dose...." is beyond me... it shoulda been "A WHENEVER Dose....."... I am not even gonna add a "LOL" right next to that coz that's not even funny!

I apologize to all my readers/followers for being MIA for soooo long.... there's just a lot goin on recently & I've never felt sooo overwhelmed as I am now... as you all know, both my kids are in school now... so I drop them off, pick them up to & from school... mind you they have different schedules & they go to different schools.... sheesh I never knew how hectic being a Mom could be until now... & they haven't even started on their 'extra curricular activities' yet.... it's all worth it nonetheless... those kids man, they are the funniest, smartest, cutest, sweetest kids in my book!

another big reason why I've been gone is because it was my birthday on the 19th.... I turned ______... chyaaa!! like I'm gonna tell you!! that's a fill-in-the-blanks question for you.... watcha think??? nevermind!! no honestly, I don't wanna know what age y'all think I am... hahaha....

so yea, me & my family went to Vegas where I celebrated my birthday... we were there for a whole week, as in 7 days..... it was hella fun! best birthday ever (like it's not every year! heehee) I'm still deciding if I should post pictures of that trip, I'm not in my best shape right now... =( so....... but I guess we'll see...

so, this is just a quick post to let y'all know, I'm still alive & kickin.... like I said, I have entries lined up for posting... hauls I've done from back in September, birthday hauls, halloween makeups, LOTD's, NOTD/NOTW's.... I even have my giveaway postponed for hella long now..... but I really dunno where to start so, I'll just go by what I feel like posting on a day to day basis.... hope you all had a great month of October... can't wait to start reading blog posts & catchin up on shits.... FACIAL PIERCING... YAY?? OR NAY???

because I am the most indecisive person in the entire planet, I need help deciding...

to pierce or not to pierce???

I've been wanting to get a piercing so baaaad.... but I've been so scared... I've been wanting to do this for quite some time now, but I still can't make up my mind.... I know I really want it, but I'm uncertain about a few things:
1) what if I end up hatin it?? then that means I would have to live with a hole on my face?? a hole that I don't think any concealer can cover (??)....
2) what if something goes wrong at the tattoo/piercing place??? unsanitized tools?? aids?? disease?? eewww eeww eeeewww...
3) what if I get a person that's fairly new at the job?? oh no!! how would I know??? do I ask?? are they certified?? do they have those plaques that they hang like at the doctor's office??

I know!! I'm a dork but I can't help it... I am so skerrrdddd!!

I WANT ME SOME TOMS!!!

I have been droolin on TOMS shoes for a whhhhiiile now.... & I think I'm finally gonna get one (one, if I can control my self on buying more than one pair) very soon.... these shoes reminds me of those espadrilles that my mom used to wear with anything when I was a little kid.... it just goes with anything & I love that....

the other thing that really got my attention is their One for One program.... it's a project that they started to which involves every individual who purchases a pair of shoe to become a benefactor.... once you become a Tom's customer, you are also doing something really great to help people that are less fortunate.... how it works is that every pair of TOMS shoes you buy, a pair of shoes is donated to a child in need... so basically, you're buying 2 pairs, for you & a child that needs it the most.... isn't that such a neat thing?! you're being stylish & helping others out at the same time...

TRUE BLOOD SEASON 3

just a quick post to say that I'm sorry for slackin on my blog posts... I've been really really busy on a lot of stuff.. you'll find out in the future posts....

but just a quick post to say that today is my hunnie's birthday... last year, we surprised him with a limousine that took us to a bar in Santa Barbara... here are a few pictures from last year...
